The Community Group for Environmental Stewardship is a developing citizen’s-based initiative on Fort William First Nation (next to Thunder Bay, Ontario). Our overall goal is to engage our community in proactive environmental stewardship that promotes a healthy living environment. We will do this through fostering citizen leadership and empowering our people. We will fill the gaps that our Band Administration currently cannot address that relate to environmental justice (see project areas below).
We need help in establishing our group as a recognized non-profit in the province of Ontario. We are seeking a person who has non-profit experience willing to volunteer in helping us through this process.
Currently, one person is writing funding proposals full-time and thus has limited capacity to make the required steps to attain non-profit status. This person is collaborating with our community-based steering committee to plan FWFN-specific projects.
Potential CGES Project Areas - Waste Management (starting recycling, hazardous waste collection) - Water Monitoring - Sacred/Cultural Sites Protection - Youth-Focused Environmental Education - Pollution and Contaminants Prevention (air, water, food) - Other Community-Identified Issues…
If you are able to volunteer your time, please contact Damien Lee at the following coordinates:

Call Centres are NOT the solution!!!
by Taxpayer $$$$

Last week Rick Bartolucci was grandstanding to the announcement of a 450 person call centre in southend Sudbury. $$$ 1.5 $$$ of taxpayer money used to lure & open. 2 others recently opened here, ASIDE from Teletech & Omega. Circuit Logic made it clear on CBC radio no unions allowed. When are people going to demand the means of production, instead of bowing their heads and being put in a cubicle like lemmings????
