Apathetic economic woes of Thunder Bay and why are we hiding it?
On Saturday May 28 on the 4th page of the Chronicle Journal was an article portraying the dismal outlook for our economy. Last place out of the top 25 cities at -3. Maybe being on the 4th page while the front page was reserved for a insurance claim and possible resolution is a proper indication of our apathy. Why would the Chronicle Journal choose to bury such a story? What do they have to gain? Why do we not, as a city, as a group work to correct and improve our position? Where are our leaders? All 4 of our government leaders are in the political party in power. Our Mayor, well she is quoted as saying what do you expect we have tough times. Three things are hurting the wood industry; softwood lumber dispute, fibre costs and energy costs. Apathetically we sit back and watch and do nothing. We need a leader. We need a leader or leaders to lead us into a quiet revolution. We need to save our city and our small towns. We need to resolve these three issues and make our region the premiere region in Canada.
