The shipyard workers of Naval Gijón built barricades on January 13 and January 4th as part of the ongoing actions of Spanish shipyard workers against privatization, the contracting out of jobs, and a deal cut between their union and the shipyard company which would involve the early retirement of 4,200 workers over the age of 52 and the closure of the several shipyards.
