The Bay Street Film Festival is entering its second year as the grassroots outlet for independent local, Canadian and International films. The objective of the festival is to bring people and filmmakers together. Through this and other festivals, plus a growing number of local productions, Thunder Bay is fast becoming a film town.

This year's festival features 48 "films for the people" from as far away as Finland, Ireland, Australia, India, Poland, and Spain. 24 festival selections hail from Canada, many of them uniquely northern in flavour. Documentaries, short films and animation that have social justice, environmental, community activism, or human rights themes are the mainstay of the festival, but other genres and subjects will also hit the big screen.
